It's Gold For Minnesota Jiu-Jitsu Competitor at Atlanta Tourney

Minnesota Connections Academy helps make Atkinson's participation in national tournaments possible; online school offers Olympic Quiz Bowl

It's time for the Winter Olympics and competition is in the air. Minnesota Connections Academy 10th grader Phillip Atkinson understands what it’s like to compete. He recently took home two gold medals from the 2018 Atlanta Winter International IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

"It was a great experience," said Atikinson. "The tournament helped me get even more ready for the Pan American Championship in March."

Atkinson continues to put school first, making the honor roll once again this past semester. He enrolled in the K-12 online public school as an 8th grader in order to have more flexibility with his training and competition schedule, while still getting a great education with great teachers.
