Junior At Minnesota Connections Academy Takes First Once Again

Online public school allows national Jiu-Jitsu competitor to travel throughout the year while staying on top of his schoolwork.

Phillip Ingvalson of Pequot Lakes recently took 1st place at the FUJI Wisconsin Championships. Ingvalson competed against adults for the nationwide tournament series. He officially moves to the adult Jiu-Jitsu bracket next year so his win against the older competition was a great practice run.

An 11th grader at Minnesota Connections Academy, a K-12 online public school, Ingvalson is able to travel across the country for tournaments while continuing with his coursework. His upcoming 2019 tournaments include Fuji Kansas in January, Fuji Missouri State Championship in February, and the IBJJF Pan's in California in March.
