Las Vegas Mass Shooting: Minnesota Man Released From Hospital

The Saint Paul native credits an Under Armour compression shirt he wore the night of the shooting with preventing him from bleeding out.

A Minnesota man who was critically wounded in the Las Vegas mass shooting Oct. 1 has been released from the hospital. Philip Aurich, a native of Saint Paul, is now recovering at home after being shot in the back, WCCO reported. Aurich, a Concordia Academy graduate, was among the crowd at the final night of the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival where the shooting took place.

"Tonight is one of those nights you won't soon forget," Aurich said in a Facebook post before the shooting began. After he was hit, Aurich was taken to a Las Vegas hospital and immediately went into surgery. He credits an Under Armour compression undershirt he wore that night with preventing his body from bleeding out.

Phil's sister-in-law Sheila Aurich said on Facebook Monday he will still have a wound drain in and receive home nurse visits for a while, but said the family is "very exited about this huge step in his recovery."
