WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN — Services are set for Sgt. First Class Nicole Amor, who was among the first soldiers killed earlier this month in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Amor, of White Bear Lake, was one of six U.S. Army Reserve soldiers killed March 1 at the Port of Shuaiba in Kuwait during a drone attack, one day after the U.S. and Israel launched their military campaign against Iran. All were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, which provides food, fuel, water and ammunition, transport equipment and supplies.

“Nicole was a rare and special light in this world, and she will be missed more than words can ever explain,” her obituary said.

“Nicole had a way of being everyone's mother and best friend at the same time. She loved with all of her heart, and she always knew exactly when to throw that perfectly timed sarcastic remark your way. That was her; strong, loving, and real.”

In addition to her husband, son and daughter, she is survived by both her parents, four siblings and many other family members, according to the obituary.

A public visitation will take place from 2-6 p.m. Thursday at Mueller Memorial, 4738 Bald Eagle Ave., White Bear Lake, the obituary said. A memorial service will be held noon on Friday at Eagle Brook Church, 2401 Buffalo St., White Bear Lake, with doors opening at 11 a.m. A private family interment will occur at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Operation Nikki’s Embrace at gardenasone.org, according to the obituary. The money will honor Amor’s love of gardening by going toward building a greenhouse.

A GoFundMe page accepting contributions to start a foundation in Amor’s memory and give to the Garden in a Box nonprofit had received over $90,000 in donations as of Wednesday morning.
