Minnesota Connections Academy Graduate Earns Eagle Scout Rank
Only about five percent of Boy Scouts achieve the prestigious honor.
2017 Minnesota Connections Academy graduate Grant Rubietta, of Prior Lake, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. Only about five percent of Boy Scouts achieve the rank, whose requirements take years to fulfill and include a lengthy review process. The designation "Eagle Scout" was founded over one hundred years ago.
Rubiettaβs final project with Boy Scout Troop 331 was to construct solitary bee houses to support native bees in Minnesota. The project was done at the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge in Bloomington.
Emily Johnston, Rubiettaβs biology teacher, was present at the Honor Ceremony, which also took place at the wildlife refuge. "It was a proud teacher moment to be present for such a prestigious event, and extremely rewarding to see one of my former students following through on their passion for biology," she said.
