Neat On-site Teaching Experience @ Minnesota Connections Academy
Practicum students from North Dakota State University and Valley City State University get to see and hear what it's like to teach online.
Ninety North Dakota State University and Valley City State University practicum students recently visited Minnesota Connections Academy in St. Paul over a three-day period. The practicum students were able to see and hear first-hand accounts of what it’s like to teach in an online public school setting. Break-out sessions included learning how families get started at Minnesota Connections Academy, observing LiveLessons® with enrolled students, participating in Q&A’s with current teachers, and reviewing an actual course.
“We feel it’s important to offer future teachers opportunities to start collecting real-world experiences that can enrich their professional knowledge,” says Melissa Gould, principal, Minnesota Connections Academy. “It’s motivating for our teachers as well to see the energy of students who are coming out of the gate.”
