One Dead, Others Hospitalized in Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

One Minnesota man died from carbon monoxide poisoning, and the man's wife and several emergency personnel​ had to be treated.

A Minnesota man has died after authorities say high levels of carbon monoxide were detected in a home in Vergas. The man's wife and several emergency and law enforcement personnel had to be treated for poisoning.

On Monday, Dec. 19, the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office, Perham EMS and Dent fire responded to the report of a man not breathing at a rural Vergas residence. It was determined that the male was deceased.

The man's wife began to show signs of carbon monoxide poisoning, and so did several emergency workers. High levels of carbon monoxide were detected and two paramedics and the deceased man's wife were air lifted to HCMC for treatment, according to a news release.

They are expected to make a speedy recovery. Two sheriff's deputies and two firefighters were also treated and released.
