SAINT PAUL, MN — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Julie Branning of Apple Valley who nominated her daughter, a nurse, Grace Branning.

Is the nominee considered an "essential worker"?:

Yes.

What does the nominee do for work?

Hospital float nurse.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?

As a hospital float nurse, Grace goes to work wherever she is assigned that day. Sometimes she works with patients who are "unknown" for COVID-19.

She has to reuse her N95 masks. She takes risks going into this environment, yet she is always smiling and putting her patients first.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?

She is compassionate, competent and selfless...and has a beautiful smile.
