The state's Police Officers Association said there is a "war on police in Minnesota."

RAMSEY COUNTY — Authorities are investigating after a Ramsey County Sheriff's Office deputy was shot at during a police chase. Deputy Joe Killed is expected to survive. No arrests have been made.
The shooting occurred less than two weeks after three Burnsville first responders — Officer Matthew Ruge, Officer Paul Elmstrand, and firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth — were shot and killed while responding to a sexual assault report.
The state's Police Officers Association on Saturday said there is a "war on police in Minnesota."

Kill was on duty and spotted the vehicle near Payne and Minnehaha avenues. He activated his squad's emergency lights and siren, and stayed close because whoever was behind the wheel continued to flee, authorities said.
The chase continued until they reached Euclid and Mendota streets. That's when a passenger in the suspect vehicle leaned out of an open vehicle window and started shooting at Kill with an AR-style rifle, according to investigators.
"One projectile penetrated the front hood near the driver side, passed through the dash, and struck our deputy in his ballistic vest strap, near his collar bone," the sheriff's office said.
"The person who opened fire hasn't been located. Yet."
Two .223 rifle casings were recovered at the scene. A St. Paul police officer found the suspect vehicle about six blocks away.
To avoid a conflict of interest the St. Paul Police Department agreed to be the primary investigative agency, authorities said. Since the shooting, Kill was transported to a hospital, treated, and released.
The sheriff's office asked for help from the public, stating: "If you know who tried to kill our deputy last night, call the SPPD and let them know who it was. (651) 266-5650."
