Recent Graduate Receives Girl Scouts Gold Award
Isabella Rubietta, along with other Prior Lake seniors, recently graduated from Minnesota Connections Academy; flexibility was important.
Prior Lake’s Isabella Rubietta, Lauren Bruce, Jack Burns, Liliana DeGaro, Kiersten Proehl and Amara Thompson were among Minnesota Connections Academy’s 2019 graduating class of 391 seniors this June. The online public school had multiple seniors this year who spent their entire K-12 education with the program.
Rubietta, one of two student speakers at the school's June in-person graduation ceremony, was one of those legacy students. She accelerated through her education, graduating second in her class at the age of 15.
“I remember starting at Connections Academy when I was only in Kindergarten,” said Rubietta. “I’ve gotten to experience every grade at this school. From the elementary school science fair to National Honor Society induction ceremonies.”
Rubietta enjoyed the school’s flexibility which allowed her to do ballet, take a full load of honors classes, volunteer, and work on achieving her Girl Scouts Gold Award, which she officially received in June. Rubietta's project to bring attention to and help the endangered rusty patched bumblebee earned her the highest honor.
Minnesota Connections Academy currently serves more than 2,800 students and provides high-quality, personalized online education that combines certified teachers, a proven curriculum, as well as technology tools, and community experiences—online and in person—to create a supportive environment for those who want an individualized approach to education.
