Saint Paul Man Sentenced in Death of Infant Daughter
"This poor baby girl was given no chance to live her life, by her own father nonetheless," said Washington County Attorney Pete Orput.

A 21-year-old Saint Paul man has been sentenced to 36 years in prison after admitting to beating his 1-year-old daughter to death. Investigators learned that the man had physically abused his daughter over a substantial period of time.
Washington County Attorney Pete Orput announced Thursday that Angel Daniel Ramirez was sentenced for the March 15, 2014, death of his infant daughter. Washington County District Judge John McBride sentenced Ramirez to 432 months in prison.
According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, Cottage Grove police and paramedics
were summoned to an address in Cottage Grove on the mother’s report of her 1-year-old daughter not moving or breathing with bloodshot eyes and bruising around her left eye. The child was transported to Regions Hospital and there pronounced dead, according to a news release.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the child, finding multiple bruises of varying age all over the child’s head and face, and internal bleeding. He concluded that the cause of death was of multiple blunt force injuries.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Ramirez had physically abused his daughter over a substantial period of time. Ramirez ultimately admitted to having done so, including punching the child in her stomach on the day of her death.

"This poor baby girl was given no chance to live her life, by her own father nonetheless," Orput said in a statement. "Acts like this tears at the very core of all of us. Our children are this country’s most valuable resource. To see an act like this shocks the entirety of the population."
