Saint Paul Public Schools' Stage 1 Students Will Begin Hybrid Learning On October 19

Dear Saint Paul Public Schools Stage 1 families and staff,

"Thank you for your patience, flexibility and understanding during our transition to hybrid learning for Stage 1 families. We are excited to welcome you all back to school next week.

In a districtwide communication on October 14, SPPS announced that we were taking Monday’s return to school under advisement. The reason for this is that SPPS needed to ensure that local COVID-19 numbers that are released every Thursday by the Minnesota Department of Education were within the guidelines for in-person learning.

After reviewing the latest data available to SPPS, we can confirm that hybrid learning for Stage 1 students will begin on Monday, October 19.

As a reminder, local COVID-19 data is one of the 24 readiness targets that must be met for in-person learning. All other targets, including health protocols, building systems, PPE inventory and available staff, have been met, and all Stage 1 programs are ready for a safe return for students and staff.

SPPS will continue to monitor weekly local data about COVID-19. If COVID-19 data changes, and we need to transition back to distance learning at any point this year, we will update families and staff as soon as possible.
