State Of MN Gets New Flag: See It Here
The State Emblems Redesign Commission on Tuesday formally adopted a final design for the next state flag for Minnesota.
ST. PAUL, MN — The state of Minnesota has a new flag. The State Emblems Redesign Commission on Tuesday formally adopted a final design that includes the "conceptual" shape of Minnesota in dark blue and the rest of the flag in light blue.
The flag also has a single eight-pointed star pointed north on the shape of Minnesota.
At Tuesday's meeting, the commission voted on modifications to the original submission — F1953 — which included the symmetry of the shape of Minnesota, the direction of the eight-pointed star, and the colors.

The commission also voted for a modification to the state seal, including the number of yellow bars around the outer ring of the seal to 98, representing Minnesota’s 87 counties and 11 federally recognized tribal nations.
The Minnesota Legislature is expected to give final approval when the session opens early next year.
