THE BIGGER PICTURE — DEMS WIN BIG
Nationally, NBC News projected that Democrats will take control of the House and Senate in January, ending unified Republican control of Washington for the final two years of President Donald Trump's term.
Republicans entered the night with a 53-47 Senate majority, and Democrats needed to flip four seats.
There were at least six flips: Roy Cooper in North Carolina, Annie Andrews in South Carolina, James Talarico in Texas, Sherrod Brown in Ohio, Adam Hamilton in Kansas and Josh Turek in Iowa.
Democrats also posted wins in governor's races, including Gina Hinojosa's victory over Greg Abbott in Texas, which will make her the state's first Democratic governor in 35 years, and Rob Sand's win in Iowa, according to The Post. In neighboring Wisconsin, David Crowley will become the state's first Black governor.
Voter frustration with high prices helped create a difficult environment for Republicans, NPR reported.
