Women's March Minnesota: Massive Crowd Gathers in Saint Paul

The Women's March Minnesota is expected to be among the largest sister marches in the country.

On Jan. 21, women across the state plan to gather at the Minnesota State Capitol in Saint Paul for the Women's March Minnesota and rally, bringing a diverse coalition of women and activists together around women’s and human rights issues one day after President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. Organizers say the march is in solidarity with the national women's march taking place in Washington, D.C., on the same day.

The march in Saint Paul Saturday is expected to be among the largest sister marches in the country. The march aims to "stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families," according to the website.

Geoff Dittberner, 29, from Inver Grove Heights, told Patch he's bringing his daughter to the march and supporting it to let President-elect Donald Trump know that "him winning the election doesn't mean his disgusting statements and actions against women are OK."

"They're not, and we should expect more out of our president," Dittberner added.

Gretchen Williams, 58, of Mendota Heights, said she's planning to attend the Women's March Minnesota with sisters, nieces, and friends. Williams told Patch she was "busy trying to knit pussyhats for us to wear."

"It's a very real, very scary time to be someone other than a rich, heterosexual white male," Williams said.
