Council affirms Riverside Fields Park decision

The City Council affirmed its decision not to flood the ice rink at Riverside Fields Park. In December, neighborhood residents requested the council reconsider its decision to close the rink as approved in the Parks, Trails and Recreation Master Plan. The city has plans to remove the park’s rink boards and lighting for possible reuse at Lions Park. The warming house/park shelter will remain for programs and rentals. Council orders feasibility report for alley reconstruction

The City Council ordered a feasibility report for the 2020 Alley Reconstruction Project. The project includes reconstructing the bituminous alleys to concrete between First Avenue and Second Avenue from Lewis Street to Fuller Street. City to study water levels at Quarry Lake

The City Council approved a professional services agreement with WSB in the amount of $30,555 to complete a water level management plan for Quarry Lake. Water levels at the landlocked quarry have been steadily rising, threatening erosion and infrastructure at Quarry Lake Park. The plan will evaluate outlet options and help establish a normal water level, which is essential for future park improvements. City accepts monetary donation for Lions Park

The City Council gratefully accepted a donation of $6,000 from the Shakopee Lions Club for future improvements at Lions Park.
