Buy Local Handmade Gifts This Season

Buy local and handmade for the upcoming holidays. It will make you feel better!

As the holidays are coming up and you are getting ready to make those gift lists, think about how you can buy more local this year! There are plenty of different avenues for you to find local gifts.  One being the Scott County Art Crawl coming up on October 6, which will feature numerous artist's work from around the area.

I would strongly encourage buying local and handmade for your holiday shopping this year.  As we all try to watch what we spend, I believe it is also as equally important to pay attention to what companies and countries we are giving our money to.  Though it may cost me a couple extra dollars, I find buying local and handmade an adventure.  I am striving to support local artists and gardeners instead of buying products from another country.

Being a local artist, I do count on the support from the communities around me and those who find it important to support local and handmade. If you can't make it to the Art Crawl or you are just more of an online shopper, head to my Etsy shop, Scattered Treasures. My shop features handmade gifts such as wine cork art and customizable decorated slate coasters.  I also sell hand-knit afghans, hand-stitched folk art, vintage playing cards and more!
