Coyotes Trounce Lonsdale 7-0: Play for State Bid Thursday

Next up for the upstart Coyotes is the St. Benedict Saints Thursday Aug. 9 at 7:30 pm.

The Shakopee coyotes avenged their lone playoff loss with a resounding 7-0 victory over the Lonsdale Aces in Lonsdale Tuesday night.

Andrew Boyce let the 13 hit attack with 4 hits, with Zak Hoffman, and Nate Roberts each adding 2 hits apiece. Jordan Triestram again pitched a gem going the distance allowing 5 hits in the victory. Triestram has now allowed but a single unearned run in 25 innings of playoff baseball.

The Coyotes scored first, plating a run in the third on a well executed double steal with Andrew Boyce coming home on an attempted throw to second as Benny Lazzari slid in safely. Alex Gregor drove in the second run in the fifth on a base hit up the middle. The Coyotes scored three more times that inning on a couple walks and wild pitch. They added single runs in the 7th and 8th innings to complete the scoring.

Next up for the upstart Coyotes is the St. Benedict Saints this Thursday Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m. The game is at New Prague's Memorial Park as the Saints home field does not have lights. On the line Thursday is a bid for a trip to this year's state amateur baseball tournament. The Coyotes are seeking to return to state for the first time since 2002, current player/manager Josh Gregor was the starting shortstop on that 2002 squad, and is the sole remaining player still playing.
