I believe the issue of Same Sex Marriage is now resolved!!!

My views changed from only same-sex civil unions would only be possible to urging for passage of the Freedom to Marry Act.

Minnesota is now the 12th state in the United States to Legalize Same-Sex Marriage. Gov. Mark Dayton signed The Freedom to Marry Act into law on May 14th, 2013. My views over the past several weeks have changed from believing only same-sex civil unions would only be possible to writing to several local State Senators urging for passage of the Freedom to Marry Act. I wrote a letter about two months back believing only a Meir compromise to the issue of same-sex marriage could have been possible. I am now glad to see Same-Sex Couples having the same rights by law as straight couples. I still hold firm on my position last year when I was opposed to the marriage amendment. I believe government should not use its power to deny a group of their unalienable rights. I feel the passage of the Freedom to Marry Act makes government perform its duty to protect the rights of all. I believe we have turned another chapter in our state’s history. I was glad to be a part of History. I believe regardless if the state senators or state representatives’ vote for or against the Freedom to Marry Act, Forty-Years from now they will be a part of History.  I believe this issue can now finally be resolved in order for all Minnesotans regardless of political affiliation, religious beliefs or sexual orientation to move forward as a one Minnesota.
