Massage for Fibromyalgia?

Regular massage to manage stress and to keep muscles loose can aid in managing flare ups.

I have heard from many clients that they know of someone who has fibromyalgia but that they were not sure that massage therapy could help.

I am here to let you know that it can help. I have recently been certified in massage for Fibromyalgia. As with every client with or without Fibromyalgia, the massage therapist will take an intake that is specific to what the client is experiencing. What makes it a little different is that with Fibromyalgia the massage therapist needs to dig a little deeper as to some specific questions and depending on the answers – they will then treat the client.

Having fibromyalgia doesn't have to be debilitating, with regular massage to manage your stress level and keeping muscles loose and increasing the circulation this will all aid in managing the "flare ups" and you could notice less of them.

It is always best to check with your physician before any treatment. I have treated several clients who have fibromyalgia and all are treated differently based upon their needs. I am always amazed at how the body responds to massage and reminds me of how simple and complex it can sometimes be.
