Shakopee Coyotes Top New Prague For # 1 Seed in Regions

Shakopee Coyotes continue playoff roll.

The Shakopee Coyotes of the Dakota-Rice-Scott league advanced to region play with a number 1 seed by defeating the New Prague Orioles 2-1 at Tahpah Park Sunday afternoon.

The winning pitcher was Andy Lazzari who hurled 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Zak Hoffman earned the save. The coyotes scored two runs in the bottom of the 8th on four hits with the winning run scoring on a base hit by Zack Graff.

The coyotes now await a Thursday night matchup against the winner of Veseli and Lonsdale who will play Tuesday. The coyotes will host a region game this coming Sunday at noon against the winner of Prior Lake and Webster who are also scheduled to play on Tuesday.

The coyotes opened the playoffs last Wednesday evening with an 11-0 thrashing of the Montgomery mallards in Montgomery. Jordan Triestram pitched the six hit shutout. Josh Gregor, Alex Gregor, Zak Hoffman, Andy Lazzari and Scott Bode all had two hits in the rout.
