THE REALITY OF THE FISCAL CLIFF IS BIG GOVERNMENT THINKING

I am part of that younger generation that faces the real reality of the Fiscal Cliff. Our country has 16 trillion dollars in debt; Social Security and Medicare will go bankrupt by 2050.

I am writing on this matter, because I am part of that younger generation that faces the real reality of the Fiscal Cliff.  The reality is our country has 16 trillion dollars in debt; Social Security and Medicare will go bankrupt by 2050.  The long-term realities face everyone.  All we have gotten from Congress is posturing from people like Congresswomen Betty McCollum saying a tax increase on the rich is going to solve these fiscal calamities, in reality her and other congressional democrat’s plans will not fix the problem, It will only encourage more debt spending. The notion of Government supporting everyone from cradle to grave does not work; it is the notion that got us into this mess. “This is why I regret ever being a Democrat and I am no longer a Democrat”.  There are solutions I support like reforming Social Security and Medicare into mandatory saving accounts for people under 55 while keeping 55 and older on the current system, scaling back on our foreign policy like eliminating foreign aid and ending the war in Afghanistan just to name a few. The problem with the logic of big government, people think government needs to be everything to everybody like a nanny to its people and a police to the world.  Our nation cannot afford it.  Unfortunately, I feel in the new current congress, the same old posturing and same old notions will be the norm.
