VOTERS SHOULD DECIDE ISSUES THAT AFFECT THEM!!!

The State Legislature has taken upon many issues to decide during this legislative session. Many issues Minnesotans do not approve of with very little or no say whatsoever on these issues.

The State Legislature has taken upon many issues to decide like Gun Control, Gay Marriage and a Minimum Wage Increase during this legislative session. Many issues a majority of Minnesotans do not approve of with very little or no say whatsoever on these issues.  The only time Minnesotans had a say on issues was during last year’s state constitutional amendments on Gay Marriage and Voter ID.  Minnesotans only vote on state constitutional amendment while other important decisions have been left up to the State Legislature.  This process gives a ruling political party in the state legislature uncontested power to push forth any agenda they please or suit their ideological causes without the consideration of their constituents as a whole. I feel both parties here in Minnesota do this time and time again. When a ruling political party does put an issue on the ballot for the voters of Minnesota to decide like Gay Marriage or Voter ID, I have to give them credit for this like the Minnesota GOP in 2012.  If we need a new state constitutional amendment, it should be an amendment to allow people to put referendums on the ballot like in California, Washington or other states. I believe we only have leaders in Saint Paul that only represent their political party or special interest group. The only way to allow the voters to have a voice in state polices is to allow referendums on the ballot during general elections every two years. If the people of Minnesota do not want gun control, gay marriage or a minimum wage increase, then the people should be allowed to vote no on these issues and the state legislature should respect the wishes of their constituents.  I believe the people of Minnesota are the true checks and balances against any obstructionist leadership regardless of any party banner, cause or special interest.
