Updated with Photos: Chanhassen Stuns Shakopee in Football Playoffs

The unbeaten Sabers fell on Tuesday 27-26.

The Shakopee Sabers football team was on the wrong side of history Tuesday as their unbeaten season came to an end in a 27-26 loss to Chanhassen in the Section 6AAAAA quarterfinals.

The Storm, in their third season, won the first playoff game in school history at the expense of the Missota Conference champion Sabers.

Chanhassen opened up with a 12-0 lead before Shakopee got on the board with a six-yard touchdown run by Nick Larson. With the missed extra point, Shakopee trailed 12-6.

The Storm scored again to make it 20-6 at halftime, but Larson’s 13-yard score made it 20-13 in the third.

After Chanhassen made it 27-13, the Sabers’ Larson connected with Taylor Johnson for a 37-yard touchdown pass to make it 27-20, and Johnson followed it up with a one-yard run to make it 27-26.

Unfortunately for Shakopee, the two-point conversion was unsuccessful and the season ended on its home field.
