Cross Country Runs in Blaze Invitational
Girls team takes first with Maria Hauger taking first overall, boys place 10th
Junior Maria Hauger highlighted a strong performance from the Shakopee girls cross country team on Thursday, winning the event individually and leading the Sabers to a team win at the Burnsville Blaze Invitational at Nicollet Junior High School.
Hauger finished the 4-kilometer race in 14:02.6, good for first place by 55 seconds over second place finisher Chrissy Monson of Albert Lea. The Sabers team finished first overall in the 12-team race with 59 points, while Owatonna took second with 98 points.
Finished after Hauger was junior Winona Rachel who took fourth place at 14:59.1. Seventh-grader Tess Misgen took eighth at 15:47.1, junior Ali Lynch took 15th overall at 16:13.8 and eighth-grader Madelyn Leier took 31st at 16:50.3. Senior Anna Neu took 41st at 17:11.5 and sophomore Allyson Walker took 60th at 17:35.3.

Sabers Boys take 10th
The Shakopee boys cross country team took 10th overall on Thursday at the Blaze Invitational, finishing with 230 points overall. Owatonna and Mahtomedi tied for first place with 53 points.

Senior Aaron Wood paced the Sabers squad in the 5-kilometer race with a 20th place finish in 17:49.4. reshman Bryon Olfert took 30th at 18:07.9, eight-grader Kyle Rachel took 50th at 18:32.3 and freshman Allen Lynch took 59th at 18:39.0.
Eighth-grader Alex Easton took 71st at 18:52.5, seventh-grader Gavin Menning took 76th at 19:15.2 and freshman Nathan Colemann took 77th at 19:19.2.
The Sabers’ boys and girls squads will next compete on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the Chaska Invitational.
