Decompression Therapy for back pain, disc bulges, and sciatica

By: Brooks Laber D.C.

Are you suffering from back pain, sciatica, disc bulge, or numbness down the arms or legs?  Unfortunately in the sedentary world we live in today you probably know someone who is suffering with one of the conditions noted above.

Have your or your friends ever considered decompression or traction therapy.  Decompression therapy is a type of motorized traction that may help relieve your back pain.  It works by gently stretching the spine, which in turn takes pressure off the spinal disc, which are gel-like cushions between your bones in the spine.  Research has shown the decompression/traction can create a negative pressure within the disc causing a “vacuum effect” where the disc bulge can “suck” the disc material back inside the disc.  This in turn takes pressure off the nerve being irritated by the disc bulge.
