Filings Open From July 28 For Shakopee City Office
The city will have two City Council seats on the 2020 ballot. Both are four-year terms from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2024.

Shakopee, Minn. – Filing for candidacy in the 2020 General Election is open Tuesday, July 28 through Tuesday, Aug. 11. Candidates can pick up the filing packet at City Hall beginning July 28.

The city will have two City Council seats on the 2020 ballot. Both are four-year terms from Jan. 1, 2021, to Dec. 31, 2024.
To run for a City Council seat, the candidate must meet the following required qualifications:

- A citizen of the United States.
- A Shakopee resident for 30 days immediately before the election.
- Must be at least 21 years old when assuming office.
Residents may file to run for these positions at Shakopee City Hall, 485 Gorman St. (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). The filing fee is $5. Please note, face coverings will be required to enter the building.
