Four Public Hearings Scheduled For December 3 In City Of Shakopee

Four public hearings are scheduled for the Dec. 3 Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment and Appeals meeting. Hearings will be held to consider:

  • A conditional use permit for a school at 4601 Dean Lakes Blvd. Southwest Metro Intermediate School District 288 plans to locate its district offices and classrooms in the former Q-Logic building. The district serves students from 16 area school districts by providing special education, career and technical education, care and treatment, adult basic education and alternative education. It currently operates 14 locations, including two locations in Shakopee - Shakopee Town Square and the Scott County Workforce Center on Canterbury Road.
  • A planned unit development (PUD) and preliminary plat of Windermere South Fourth Addition, located north of Astoria Drive and west of Attenborough Street. The PUD includes property designated for construction of the first segment of the linear park/greenway. D.R. Horton, Inc.-Minnesota is also proposing the preliminary plat of Windermere South Fourth Addition, a single-family residential plat of approximately 53 acres to include 126 single-family residential lots.
  • A preliminary plat and planned unit development for Summerland Place, located north of 17th Avenue, east of Balinese Street, south of Highway 169 and west of Canterbury Road. Summergate Development plans to build a mixed-use development, which would consist of 71 villa homes, 126 single family homes, 114 townhome units and 300 apartment units on approximately 117 acres.
  • A preliminary plat of property in Cretex Industrial Park 1st Addition, located east of 70th Street and west of Stagecoach Road. Cretex Industrial Park, LLC plans to redevelop this heavy industrial area. The public hearing is anticipated to be continued until March 4, 2021.

It is anticipated that some or all of the members of the Planning Commission will participate in the Dec. 3, 2020, meeting by video conference rather than by being personally present at the City Hall council chambers, 485 Gorman St., Shakopee.
