The Sabers, who won their first ever Missota Conference girl's tennis championship, faces Worthington Tuesday in the first round of the Section 2AA playoffs.

The Sabers won their first ever Missota Conference championship as their number one doubles team (Sam Root and Kristina Worm) rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the third set to win the final set 6-4. Shakopee is the first seed in Section 2AA and will play at home the first two rounds with their next match Thursday. The section finals will be held at Gustavus.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Vonnick Boyogueno - Shakopee number one singles
The senior is a powerful player who is described as an incredibly hard worker by head coach Susan Allen.
Haley Lickford - Shakopee number two singles
An eighth grader who has shown excellent improvement this season and is getting better and better every day, according to Allen
Dannick Boyogueno - Shakopee number three singles
The freshman is a very coachable player with good potential. Her serve and ground strokes have more pace than any player Allen has seen at her position this season.
SABERS WIN IF...
They can keep up their strong play down the stretch. They won their final eight matches and their four losses were to Lake Conference schools Edina, Minnetonka, Eden Prairie and Wayzata, who were all ranked in the top five in the Star Tribune rankings.
