The Savage Area Women of Today is a chapter of the Minnesota Women of Today that formed in August of 2010.  We are a community service and leadership training organization committed to growing women leaders while serving our community.  We recently ended our most recent year in May and would like to share the impact that our chapter has made.Between May 1, 2012 and April 30, 2013, the Savage Area Women of Today has done a wide variety of projects selected by our members.

We held projects related to women’s health and well-being such as a CPR course and group walks.

We served the youth of our community through projects such as making blankets for Project Linus, collecting supplies for the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, assembling birthday bags for the CAP Agency, and providing holiday gifts to children in need.

We held a variety of training opportunities for our members such as a session to become more effective trainers.  Some of our members also serve on the chapter board or chair chapter projects to build their own leadership skills.

We completed a variety of other projects to serve our local community such as repacking laundry detergent to donate to the CAP Agency, adopting three local parks, donating to the schools, and supporting a local student with a scholarship.

Overall we raised and donated over $2,113 and provided over 286 service hours to the community.  At the current rate of $22.14 for the value of a volunteer hour, that makes our total impact valued at over $8400!  If you would like to join us to help make an even larger impact to the community in the upcoming year, please visit any of our upcoming events, visit our Facebook page (facebook.com/SavageAreaWT), or reach out to us via e-mail (SavageAreaWT@gmail.com) to learn more!
