Mdewakanton Public Safety Invites Families to Explore Fire Station

Mdewakanton Public Safety (MPS) hosts open house Wednesday, October 8, from 5-8 p.m.

Mdewakanton Public Safety (MPS), the fire and ambulance department of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), is inviting the public to explore its state-of-the-art fire station and enjoy family-oriented activities on Wednesday, October 8, at an open house from 5-8 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy fire truck rides, spray a fire hose, take part in a fire extinguisher simulator, test high-tech equipment like thermal imaging cameras, tour the fire station, and learn tips to help prevent home fires. Visitors will also have a chance to vote for their favorite chili recipes in a firefighter chili cook-off. This event is part of U.S. Fire Prevention Week.

Mdewakanton Public Safety is a full-time, professional fire and ambulance department that responds to an average of 144 incidents each month.
