Minnesota Amusement Ride Myths

Last week while I was listening to the Judd and Dubay radio show transmitting live from Valleyfair, they said that the High Roller at Valleyfair was the roller coaster rebuilt from Excelsior Amusement Park.  While some rides from Excelsior were erected at Valleyfair, the High roller roller coaster is not one of those rides.  The High Roller was constructed by a company from Ohio called International Amusement Device (IAD).  An interntaional amusement park enthusiast and education group known as the National Amusement Park Historical Association (www.napha.org) received the photos that IAD shot of the coaster as it was being erected as a donation to the organization's Archives.  It just so happens that members of the organization will be in town next weekend to pay homage to Valleyfair's High Roller as well as other historic Minnesota rides at Como Park and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.  Let me know if you see their round amusement park logos at Twin Cities amusement parks then.
