The principal and teachers wore red capes as part of the kick-off to theme for the year, “Power Up for Learning.” The school will also focus on the character traits of caring, respect, responsibility, citizenship, fairness and trustworthiness this year.
Each month, students and staff will focus on one of these six traits and there is a special cape for each trait. Students can choose to wear their class’ red cape to go to the school office if they are “caught” demonstrating one of these traits in an exceptional way.

At the school office, they present a written slip that was given to them recognizing them for demonstrating a given character trait and they are awarded a small reward, Red Oak bracelets.
Staff wore their capes to welcome students to the first day of school.
