Scholarships Available from Shakopee Public Utilities

Entry deadline is March 15.

Submissions are now being accepted by the Shakopee Public Utilities for the 2013 Tom Bovitz Memorial Scholarship Award Program.

The program is open to high school seniors who are, or whose legal guardians are, customers of Shakopee Public Utilities, and who “plan on attending a post-secondary educational institution.” Entries will be judged in a way that the commission of judges will not know the identity of the author, so utility personnel and their relatives are eligible to enter.

Entries should:

  • Interpret one or more aspects of the theme, “Municipal utilities: good for all of us.”
  • Be 500 to 1,000 words, typed and double-spaced.
  • Include a cover page with the writer's name and address.
  • Be submitted by March 15.

One local winner will be entered into the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association scholarship contest. Shakopee Public Utilities will award scholarships of $1,000 and $500, and MMUA will award scholarships of $2,000, $1,500, $1,000 and $500.
