Shakopee Blanked by Burnsville in Girls Soccer

Sabers play well but give up two early goals in a 2-0 loss to Burnsville during the non-conference girls soccer action

Shakopee High School gave up two quick goals to Burnsville’s Alyssa Blahnik in the first half, and dropped a 2-0 non-conference girls soccer decision Saturday afternoon at Burnsville.

Blahnik scored her first goal at the 11:00 mark, then added the second at 14:21 in the first half.

Burnsville and Shakopee kept battling to gain an advantage the rest of the game, but neither team managed to find the back of the net the rest of the way.

“We gave them two goals right off the bat,” said Shakopee coach Mike Ceola. “Two mistakes led to … if you make mistakes against a good team like that, they're going to make you pay. Again we had some miscommunication, knocked the ball out of our own goalie’s hands, and then we easily could have made a support pass and turned it over.

“The one thing I was pleased with is I thought we had better possession today,” added Ceola. “I really thought we had better possession than Burnsville. I was very excited with the effort. We eliminate the mistakes, this game’s a zero-zero game. So they're (Burnsville) a good team, they're loaded with speed, but I thought we played well. The possession we had and the touches were nice.”
