Council awards contract for Memorial Park bridge replacement

The City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $536,758.65 to S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc., for the Memorial Park Bridge and Trail Improvements Project. The project will replace the bridge removed in 2016 and realign the trail. Work is anticipated to start in January with substantial completion anticipated for August 2021. Council authorizes design services agreements for storm water projects
The City Council authorized two professional services agreements with AE2S to perform design services for:
- Annual Erosion/Pond Cleaning/Outlet Improvements Project in the amount of $72,869 to address erosion and pond maintenance issues in three project locations identified on the city’s Capital Improvement Plan.
- Drainage and Flood Prevention Improvements Project in the amount of $27,573 to mitigate drainage and flood prevention issues in two project locations identified on the city’s Capital Improvement Plan.

Council adopts remote work policy for city employees
The City Council adopted a remote work policy to provide employees the ability to work remotely in certain circumstances. The policy lays out procedures for allowing employees to work at home for an agreed upon time, if the employee and job duties fit the need (e.g., during COVID-19 work from home orders). Council hosts public meeting on 2021 budget, levy

City approves closure of Lewis Street parking lot for Holiday Winter Market
The City Council approved the closure of the Lewis Street parking lot from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 for a Holiday Winter Market event, hosted by the Shakopee Chamber of Commerce. The event, which features local artisans in a safe shopping environment, takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information at https://visitshakopee.org/events/holiday-winter-market.
