Shakopee City Receives Grant To Purchase Voting Equipment
The city plans to use the grant money to purchase an additional ImageCast Evolution tabulator and poll pads.

The City of Shakopee recently received a grant award of $6,468.79 toward the purchase of voting equipment.

In late 2019, the Minnesota Legislature authorized $2 million in grant funding for counties, cities, towns and school districts to help with the purchase of voting equipment, such as optical scan precinct counters, optical scan central counters and/or assisted voting devices. The city plans to use the grant money to purchase an additional ImageCast Evolution tabulator and poll pads in preparation for adding another precinct.
Nearly 75 counties and municipalities applied for the grants. Requests were prorated to ensure all organization received a portion of the original $2 million.
