Shakopee City Schedules Ten Public Hearings For May 7
The Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.

Ten public hearings are scheduled for the May 7 Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment and Appeals meeting. Hearings will be held to consider:

- A conditional use permit for a school at 1200 Shakopee Town Square. Aspire Academy is a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) focused public charter school for approximately 200 students in grades kindergarten through fifth-grade. Aspire plans to locate in suite 60 on the south-end of the building.
- A conditional use permit for a place of worship at 1760 Fourth Ave. E. Resonate Church, which currently meets at Shakopee West Middle School, plans to move into the former Knights of Columbus Hall/Event Center.
- A conditional use permit for a place of worship at 123 Second Ave. W. Iglesia del Dios Vivo, which has a worship center on First Avenue, plans to expand to a second location in the existing 16,000-square-foot building.
- A planned unit development amendment for Saint Francis Regional Medical Center, 1455 St. Francis Ave. St. Francis plans to construct a 15,000-square-foot emergency department expansion and renovate its existing Cancer Center space. The proposed expansion adds 14 additional emergency rooms, two trauma rooms and six rooms designed for patients experiencing mental health emergencies. A drive-through ambulance garage to serve up to four ambulances is also part of the proposed expansion.
- A preliminary and final plat of Canterbury Park 9th Addition and Canterbury Park Southwest Planned Unit Development at 1150 Shenandoah Drive. Plans for the proposed mixed-use development include a 7,000 square-foot sit-down restaurant; four-story, 136-unit market rate senior apartment building; four-story, 95-room hotel; two-story, 26,900-square-foot office building; two 11,000-square-foot retail/fast casual restaurant buildings; and 1.68-acre commercial lot.
- A planned unit development amendment for Canterbury Southwest Planned Unit Development. Greystone Construction plans to build its corporate office building on 1.44 acres at the intersection of Vierling Drive and Shenandoah Drive. The proposed two-story building is approximately 27,000 square-feet.
- A planned unit development and preliminary plat of Summerland Place. Summergate Development is proposing a mixed-use development on 117 acres north of 17th Avenue, east of Balinese Street, south of Highway 169 and west of Mystic Lake Boulevard. The development includes 68 townhouses, 104 villa and 116 single-family residences and 300 apartment units in three buildings.
- A preliminary plat of Windermere South Third Addition. D.R. Horton, Inc. - Minnesota plans to create 33 single-family residential lots and a lot for the existing Friendship Church on 36 acres north of County Highway 78, west of Marystown Road and south of Astoria Drive (128th Street).
- Annexation of 88 acres located at the southwest corner of County Highway 78 and County Highway 79 and rezoning the parcel as Rural Residential (RR) District. The Shakopee School District requested annexation of the property located in Jackson Township. It is currently used as an athletic field complex.
- A preliminary and final plat of Prairie Pointe and Prairie Pointe Planned Unit Development at 1760 Fourth Ave. E. Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative plans to develop a three-story, 46-unit apartment building for supportive housing on the vacant portion the property (2.03 acres) and sell the existing building to Resonate Church.
The public is invited to provide comment on the application through an online comment form. Comments will be reviewed by city staff and provided to the City Council prior to the meeting.
