Shakopee Delays Meeting on Emerson Proposal
Emerson is considering occupying the former ADC Telecommunications building, which would bring 500 jobs to Shakopee.

After Shakopee city officials met with representatives from Emerson on Tuesday, some questions remained unanswered, said City Administrator Mark McNeill.
Emerson Process Management is considering the former ADC Telcommunications building as a site to which it would expand its operations. The Shakopee location is one of multiple sites the business is considering.
Emerson would create 500 jobs in Shakopee and occupy 300,000 square feet of the building with plans to expand.

The company has requested an assistance package valued at $6 million. The City of Shakopee and Scott County have been working with Greater MSP to create the incentive package, said Community Development Director Michael Leek.
The Shakopee City Council had originally expected to discuss the proposed assistance package at the Dec. 4 council meeting. However, that meeting has been delayed.

“It was determined that further information and a more thorough research of alternatives were needed before this concept was ready to be discussed with the Shakopee City Council,” states a news release from the City of Shakopee. “As such, both Emerson Process Management and the City agreed to continue negotiations.”
A new target date for the city council discussion on the proposal has been set for Jan. 8, 2013, said McNeill.
The former ADC Telecommunication building is located in the Valley Green Business Park, east of Valley Industrial Boulevard, in Shakopee.
