Shakopee Football Star Out for Season

Nick McBeain caught the game-winning touchdown pass on Friday against Holy Angels.

The Shakopee football team lost senior tailback Nick McBeain for the season on Friday with a torn anterior-cruciate ligament, according to a Twitter post by scoreboardmn.ourvarsity.com.

McBeain caught what proved to be the game-winning touchdown pass on Friday in a 10-7 win over the Academy of Holy Angels in what could decide the Missota Conference title. Shakopee (6-0, 5-0 Missota) remained unbeaten, while the Stars (5-1, 4-1) dropped a game back with two games to play.

McBeain has played a big part in that success. The captain and KARE 11 Preseason All-Metro selection has 155 yards and three touchdowns on the ground and 101 yards receiving with a touchdown on the year, according to MNFootballhub.com.

He reportedly also has 66 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble playing linebacker.

Coach Jody Stone said after Friday’s game the injury, while it wasn’t confirmed to be an ACL tear, happened on a defensive play near the sideline prior to Holy Angels’ lone fourth quarter touchdown.
