Shakopee Golfer Headed for NDSU

Shakopee senior Alex Schmid has signed a national letter of intent to play women's golf at North Dakota State University.
NDSU coach Matt Johnson announced the signings of Schmid and Maggie Crippen of Missoula, Mont., on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.
Schmid, a three-time all-conference performer, is a two-time Class 3A state qualifier and was all-state last year after a fifth-place finish. She is a member of the Minnesota Junior PGA Players Tour and was selected for the 2011 Ryder Cup Junior Academy and the 2012 Minnesota-Wisconsin Junior PGA Cup.

Crippen is the reigning two-time Class B state champion in Montana girls' golf and was the state women's amateur champion in 2011. She was a Wendy's High School Heisman state finalist in 2012 and is a three-time all-state performer. She led Missoula Loyola to a state golf championship in 2011 and was part of a third-place state finish in basketball in 2010.
