Shakopee Man Takes First Place at WhistleStop Marathon in Wisconsin

One local man earned some serious bragging rights this Saturday: Brian Sames, a 27-year-old Shakopee resident, finished first at the WhistleStop Festival Marathon.

Sames won the men’s full marathon event with a time of 2:33.36.1. He was one of 511 runners to run the 26-mile course at Ashland, WI. 

Sames is an accomplished runner. In 2011, he was the first cross the finish line at the Mankato Marathon and second at the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon earlier this year.
