PHOTOS: Shakopee's Maria Hauger Nabs Regional Running Win

The Shakopee junior will run next in a national meet in Portland, Ore. in December.

Shakopee High School junior Maria Hauger placed first at the Nike Cross Country Heartland Regional championships Nov. 13 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Hauger took first in the 5K race with a time of 17 minutes 52 seconds and overall, the team placed eighth out of 22.

Shakopee finishers included: Winona Rachel who placed 33rd in 19:12, Tess Misgen placed 62nd 19:33, Alli Lynch took 80th in 19:47, Anna Neu placed 177th with a time of 21:26, Katie Mulcrone placed 196th at 21:57, Dana Stewart placed at 206 with a time of 22:14, and Madelyn Leier placed 214th at 23:40.

Hauger won by 24 seconds, cementing her place at the national meet in Portland, Ore. in December. The top two teams and top five runners make it to the national meet.
