Several athletes from the Special Olympics will join runners from the City of Shakopee, Chaska PD, Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Scott County Attorney’s Office, and Savage Police Department for the 4.5-mile run through the community.

According to the Special Olympics, the “Flame of Hope” run started in Moorhead on Monday and will be passed on to law enforcement representatives in Rochester, Savage, Shakopee, the Twin Cities West Metro, Duluth and Minneapolis. The final leg will culminate at Stillwater Area High School for the ceremonial lighting of the torch at the 2013 Special Olympics Summer Games celebration ceremonies.
