Shakopee Rotary Club Honors Ron Smith with the W. Adair Muralt award and Paul Harris Fellows

Shakopee, Minn. – The Shakopee Rotary Club awarded the W. Adair Muralt Award to Ron Smith of Shakopee.

The W. Adair Muralt Community Service Award is awarded annually to a deserving person for outstanding service to the local community. 

Ron Smith exemplifies the Rotary mission of Service Above Self and has been an active member of the Shakopee Rotary club for many years serving on numerous committees, serving as the Youth Exchange Chair as well as the Club President.

"Ron is a leader who quietly and competently continues to get important things done in our community and internationally," said Harold Armstrong, President of the Shakopee Rotary Club.

Receiving Paul Harris Fellow awards this year were Libby Bergen, Jason Marschall, Joe Helkamp and Lorri Helkamp.  Receiving Multiple Paul Harris Fellow awards were Ron Smith sponsoring Jeffery and Charles Smith, Erik Ostlund sponsoring Gwendolyn Ostlund, Art Quinn sponsoring Maddox and Aurora Quinn represented by their grandmother Judy Quinn.

Mike Baumgartner, Chuck Berg, Gary Laurent and Tammy Laurent also were given Multiple Paul Harris Fellow awards but have not yet designated a beneficiary. 

Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries.

The Shakopee Rotary Club was founded in March of 1955 and will be celebrating its 58th year of service to this community in 2013.
