The Shakopee School Board voted unanimously to appoint Scott Swanson to the board position left open when Tony Bonsante resigned in September.
During a special meeting on Nov. 30 that was open to the public, board members and board members-elect interviewed three candidates. Besides Swanson, the two others who were interviewed were recent school board candidate Jeremy Casper and former Shakopee Mayor Bill Mars.
After the interviews, the board decided to appoint Swanson to the two-year position. Bonsante was elected to the board in November 2009 and had two years left in his term of service. Swanson will serve on the board until December 2013.
