Shakopee Wrestling Showdown Thursday

The Shakopee and Prior Lake wrestling teams could very likely meet to decide the Section 2AAA championship a month from today. After all they've been the section finalists for three years running — Prior Lake has won all three of those championship matches — and both are ranked among the top half-dozen Class AAA teams in the state. If you'd like a preview of that possible showdown, Eagan is the place to be Thursday night.

The sixth-ranked Sabers and third-ranked Lakers will wrestle in a triangular at Eagan High School, starting at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Both teams have been ranked all season. The Sabers opened at No. 11, climbed to seventh in the final poll of 2012 and edged up another spot in the most recent poll released Jan. 11. Prior Lake was fourth in the first poll of the season and stayed in that position until the most recent poll, when the Lakers climbed one spot.
