Sports Equipment Donations Sought for Spring and Summer Youth Program

Gear for soccer, basketball and tennis is needed.

The Skittles Youth Program at , in partnership with Shakopee Community Education, Shakopee Soccer Association, and other local groups, is offering the third annual Spring and Summer Program from April through August. This program provides fun, structured activites and is open to all middle school children. It's especially geared for students who cannot afford to participate in sports activities.

An estimated 125-150 youth are expected to participate in the program this year.

To help the program succeed, the following gently-used donations are needed:

• Soccer cleats and shinguards – boys and girls

• Basketball shoes and shorts – boys and girls

• Tennis racquets and balls

Other items needed include:

• Athletic tape

• Bottled water and sports drinks

Donations will be accepted by Mary Hernandez, Shakopee Schools cultural liaison, at the front office at Shakopee Middle School. Call Mary at (952) 496-5906 for more information or to help promote this safe and educational program for Shakopee’s youth.
