Twelve Shakopee Junior High Students Selected for MN State Honor Choirs

Seven students from Shakopee West and five students from Shakopee East junior high schools were chosen to participate in the boys' and girl's choirs.

The Shakopee School District had the secondest highest number of students in the state, who were selected for the Minnesota tate 7th-8th grade honor choirs.

Over 500 girls auditioned for just 150 spots on the 7th-8th grade girls' honor choir and 350 boys auditioned for 125 spots on the boys' choir.

The auditions are held blindly — students submit a recording and a panel of judges listen to all of the recordings and score the singers.  Then they are ranked and placed in the choirs if they are one of the top 50 in their voice part.

Seven students from Shakopee West Junior High were selected for the choirs: Sierra Bachler, Morgen Joyce, Abigail Eastman, Lindsey Schwaesdall and Hannah Held for the girls' choir; Jakob Studtmann and Markus Babris for the boys' choir.

Five students from Shakopee East Junior High were selected for the choirs: Marin Wilts, Renee Daggett and Arantxa Riviera for the girls' choir; Austin Kellogg and Connor Prince for the boys' choir.
