1 Child Dead, 1 Critical After Fall From South Minneapolis APT

Minneapolis police say that the children appear to be under 4 years of age.

MINNEAPOLIS —Police say one child has died and another was critically injured after they fell from a Minneapolis apartment building near the Midtown Greenway Thursday. At 2:20 pm, Minneapolis police, fire and Hennepin County Medical Center crews responded to the 2800 block of Pleasant Avenue South on a report of two children that had fallen from an upper story of the building.

Workers in the area saw the children fall and called 911. Those workers provided immediate aid to the children. Officers took over care of the two until relieved by paramedics.

Both children were transported to HCMC in critical condition. One of the children has since died from their injuries, according to a news release.

The exact ages of the children are not being released at this time and authorities are still looking into the relationship between these children. Police say that the children appear to be under 4 years of age.

Investigators and patrol officers remain at the scene as this investigation is ongoing.

The incident happened at an apartment building called Karmel Village, Sgt. Darcy Horn told FOX 9.
